The organizing committee of the 11th Interamerican Congress on Microscopy (CIASEM 2011) we are pleased to invite you to this congress that will be held in the beautiful colonial city of Mérida Yucatán, México, from 24 to 29 September 2011. The CIASEM Congresses are held every two years, and are the largest and most important meetings on microscopies throughout the Americas. The table shows the countries to host this conference since its inception in 1992.

These congresses are sponsored by CIASEM, the Inter-American Committee of Societies for Electron Microscopy, a regional organization of IFSM, the International Federation of Societies for Microscopy, for the American Continent. This is the third time that México through the Mexican Association of Microscopy, is headquarters to the CIASEM congress, now will be held in Mérida, capital city of the state of Yucatan, México, and one of the surest cities from México. In this beautiful city various cultural activities are offered daily along with a large amount of entertainment options for the pleasure of visitors. An one hour away Celestun can be found; with a natural exhibition that shows thousands of pink flamingos among other things; Mayapan, Uxmal and Chichen Itza (one of the 7 wonders of the world), can also be found with its Mayan architectural remains; and only 20 minutes away is the tradition Progreso Port and its famous beach. Mérida also has old buildings (“Haciendas”) that are very attractive places to visit.
